Spending billions on imaginary submarines, while AUKUS quietly creates a US military presence beyond Australia’s control. Our political leaders need to be condemned for these reckless actions.
The secretive manner in which this whole matter has been conducted screams betrayal of the Australian nation ,its people and our future . In my view it is well nigh treasonous ; tossing away our sovereignty without a word of debate in parliament .
That Albanese , Wong , and “snow globes” Marles assume they can give away billions of dollars of taxpayer funds to the US , for
submarines that may never arrive , without the smallest consultation with the public ( and particularly affected electorates 😡) is the very antithesis of Democracy . ( But Albanese has shown all too little regard for the public interest since becoming PM.
Seemingly he would rather build and pay for housing and facilities for American military personnel on their bases , than build houses for homeless Australians . ) I hope enough voters wake up to this level of abandonment before the next election . This government is beyond a disgrace.
Perhaps also look at how the Trump administration is treating Greenland in how the Texas based Greenland Energy is, as we speak, is trampling that sovereign rights of Greenland in its quest for oil.

I suppose the AUKUS trough is plenty wide enough for all of them. We're an easily defensible island in the middle of nowhere. Chock full of rare earths and critical minerals, energy sources, prime farmland and the like even if our pollies give them away too.
If we were an independent sovereign nation we could just invest in drones incl robot subs to create a defensive moat. And other defensive weapons that arent expensive and obsolete.

Referring to functional mechanical and nuclear waste management issues for the Virginia class submarines: Their operational life is limited and prior to receipt their life has already been reduced. These submarines operate on highly enriched uranium in a sealed nuclear power plant that cannot be removed or refuelled once the original fuel has been depleted.
By what process will decommissioning of these useless relics be managed, and where?
I’d say the chances are highly likely (if the subs ever do turn up) to be knackered and in need of twelve months of repairs including immediate dumping of spent nuclear waste. We don’t know what we don’t know, so we assume the future is like the present, only in the future. AUKUS is very much this way of thinking. Submarines are good. Necessary even. The enemy is China. But what if China, or anyone, develops some submarine killing drone? Why do we think submarines are the future and not drones. Submarines are slow. Drones are fast. Submarines are incredibly expensive. Drones are incredibly cheap. AUKUS subs, I believe, carry around 26 tomahawk missiles. As soon as they fire one then the enemy, China, knows exactly where they are. A hundred drones carrying submarine killer technology would make short work of them. So would a nuclear missile. AUKUS reflects US military strategy, not Australian. Scott Morrison, the most stupid PM we have had for a long time, said our partnership with the US is a forever partnership. Seriously? Empires come and go. Nothing is forever. Ask my ex-wife. So eight or so subs are going to provide protection for a land mass the size of Europe, in fact larger than Europe? Are we stupid?
Of course they’re going to take over and they want the critical minerals and other resources we have. We gave such fu****g DUMB politicians. Plus they just want to go to war with China and we’ll get in the firing line.

Not to mention how we could ever remove them .. anybody heard of Guantanamo Bay?.. as long as it’s strategically convenient for them to stay, they will stay .. Int Law means nothing.

We should dump the US end of AUKUS and jump straight to AUUK to build the British SSN subs in Adelaide.
