The Royal Commission needs to ask the difficult questions of ASIO and its intelligence failures, rather than avoiding accountability and hiding behind the language of “social cohesion”.
Couldn’t agree more. Focusing on institutional failure is the most logical approach for understanding and preventing further security failures like Bondi. This however, doesn’t serve the political agenda of those pushing for a Royal commission. It’s hard to see this Royal commission as anything other than serving the agenda of conflating criticism of Israel and Zionism as antisemitism and therefore as a threat to national security and ‘social cohesion’. The fact that non-Zionist Jews have been silenced during this entire process is evidence that this was never about bringing a voice to the entire Jewish community, but rather seeking to serve the agenda of pro-Zionist members of the community, Jews and non-Jews alike. For there any many, many non-Jewish Zionists who are eager to weaponise Jewish suffering for their own political gains.
Indeed with a publicly funded commission, we the public are unable to read the full recommendations. What implications does this have for our civil liberties? Opaque commissions under the guise of social cohesion may hide a sinister motive.
Agreed Elizabeth. The report will likely tell us nothing that we don’t already know. And what we will know is the list of civil liberties we must lose to enable ‘social cohesion’ to persist
The slogan “ social cohesion” is typical political empty rhetoric . Demonstrated as an excuse for not undertaking the necessary hard tasks of reform . Rather like expressing mere “concern “ about the genocide occurring in Gaza/Palestine ,
This sounds just like the carefully designed NACC where Robodebt designers and perpetrators now walk free, and
“Ministerial Responsibility “ is demonstrated to exist no longer . Also previous Royal Commissions where very few of the necessary recommendations to government have been adopted . What a disgrace.

Well said , and correct 💯
Thank you Eddy.

There appears to be a pattern with recent Royal Commissions , in that necessary recommendations are kept from the public,
or simply not adopted .

Spot on 🎯
Excellent analysis - this needs to be read widely.
