From $10,000 dinners and corporate-sponsored conferences to ignoring party members and abandoning struggling communities, Labor is displaying the complacency that eventually destroys governments.
For all that is said about the Labor Party being the party of workers, that died a long time ago in 1975.
Since then it has become the party, particularly more so since 2007, of business lobbyists, middle managers, lawyer, accountants, career unionists who have shortchanged workers with bad EBAs, staffers and career politicians like Albanese who have barely worked a day outside of Parliament.
Strike a deal with the capitalist class, and Albanese whose only goal is to make Labor the ‘natural party of government’, is seeking power for power’s sake.
Labor is that segment of the comfortable upper middle class enjoying their time amongst the elite. They look down upon you, because they’ve climbed the ladder and pulled it up behind them and they sneer at you for trying to just get the ladder back down!
Well said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯I have particular contempt for those MPs who have never worked a day in their lives outside of a political staffer’s office . They really are parasites . The public interest means nothing to them . You are distressingly correct in every detail .
I disagree the Labor Party ceased to be a party of workers when Whitlam became leader and courted the ‘Liberal’ and Fabian upper middle class. Though this was cemented with Hawke and Keating accepting managerialism and economic rationalism/neoliberalism/Chicago school of economics
As a Victorian , this upcoming election fills me with dread.... (The guardian have just reported that apparently deputy Ben Carroll is going to challenge for the leadership 🙄)
One of the worse things is that the libs want to repeal the Treaty with First Nations people, and that they'll do it in 'the first 100 days' which I find so appalling... Apart from all the other appalling things....
I just hope that somehow we get lots of Greens, Vic socialists and independents winning seats... (Yes, this is hopium copium)
A million thanks for this valuable post, Eddy and David 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Two concurrent political farces have been occurring this month.
the Royal Commission into antisemitism and the Labor Conferences , both state and federal . My despair about the spineless
“leadership” of Mr “I grew up in public housing “ , now conducting fund raising dinners in the mansions of billionaires ; honestly you
couldn’t script it . The editor would throw it out as ludicrous. The list of issues to do with the Public Interest that Albanese has effectively abandoned in favour of his grovelling to every corporate donor in sight is scandalous . ( Domestic and sexual violence
being two that relate specifically to his other failures in domestic policy 😡).
As for Albanese’s refusal to see the difference between refusing to condemn the genocide in Palestine , or even mention it , and the
fact that Jewish people and Palestinians have lived in harmony in the Middle East for centuries , is he so ignorant that he knows nothing of history, or is he simply grovelling to Zionist donors ?
I’m sorry , but Albanese is not a leader’s bootlace . To borrow from Monty Python , he is just “a very naughty boy “ , trashing the Labor Party . Gough must be spinning in his grave . 😳
Thanks Eddy and David.

I fear what might happen otherwise...
