The Labor Conference, Albanese, Minns, housing affordability, gambling reform, Palestine and One Nation all point to the same question: what does the modern Labor Party stand for?
The PM has stated on the record before, he is interested more about positioning the Labor Party as the ‘natural party of government’.
As Sean Kelly wrote in the Quarterly Essay last year, this is an inherently conservative position and approach to politics.
As the establishment, the ALP has a vested interest in ensuring very little changes. To them, to admit there needs to be change, is to admit their government is imperfect.
There is a book written on Canadian Politics called the ‘Trudeau Formula’ about how the Canadian Liberals (the equivalent to the ALP) have won by ‘changeless change’. They campaign to the left and then govern from the right. The same is true of the ALP. In the end we have the Mayor of Marrickville endorsing illegal wars of the U.S. and the murder of the Supreme Leader of Iran, while spending 368 billion on weapons. This is a very right wing government.
The last Labor leader who tried anything like that social justice thingy was K Rudd. He got booted for attempting anything like standing up to the corporate owners. Taxing miners and climate action, indeed!
if you look at what K Rudd has done since its pretty clear he was USA and big capital first all along. the rest was optics. just a fight between the two US factions on foreign soil

Neither Albanese nor Minns are fit to hold the office they hold at this time . They are turning the Labor Party into a
well nigh Tory party , grovelling to corporate donors , to the orders of America and Israel , and doing as little as possible for those they were elected to serve . That is the Australian public , whom they treat with contempt.
As for their refusal to condemn the genocide occurring in Palestine and Lebanon , that is a betrayal of their office
and Humanity beyond belief . As someone who revers Gough Whitlam , his vision and his statesmanship , these two

As a migrant of 25 years voting for social democrat candidates my conclusions are that the ALP has replaced it's reform and social justice DNA.
